Schierholz Becomes Converse’s First CSC Academic All-America First Team Selection

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Junior Jesper Schierholz added to his 2025 accolades Tuesday afternoon as he was named a College Sports Communicators First Team All-America honoree.

The Walsrode, Germany native is the first Valkyrie in school history, regardless of sport, to earn first-team honors from CSC. He is also the first male Academic All-American selection in Converse University history. Schierholz is the fourth Valkyrie in school history to be named to a CSC Academic All-America team, joining Catalina Pistaccio (field hockey, 2025), Maria Belen Vendrell (women's tennis, 2021) and Sydney Watson (softball, 2024 & 2025).

Schierholz is the lone Academic All-American from Conference Carolinas and one of two from Converse's traditional southeast region of the SAC, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas. Schierholz is joined by graduate defender Guillermo Garcia of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Super-Region 2, which includes the previously mentioned trio of conferences and the Gulf South and Sunshine State Conference, had five honorees in addition to Schierholz and Garcia.

Schierholz led the Valkyries in assists with nine, mainly earned through being the main corner-kick taker for the Valkyries in 2025. His total of nine assists was second in the conference only to Offensive Player of the Year Thomas Kleinpenning of Young Harris. Schierholz started all 17 games for the Valkyries, logging 1,298 minutes on the pitch. He was named a second team all-conference selection.
