DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) professionals membership has selected the recipients of the annual section awards this past week, Converse University head Golf Patti McGowan was named the Southeast Section Coach of the Year.
 
McGowan is one of six section winners selected by the LPGA Professionals. Joining McGowan as a sectional winner is Lindsay Kuhle (University of Kansas), Stephanie Barker (Morehead State University), Kathryn Schanuel (Georgetown University), Val Patrick (Seattle, Wash.) and Yeon Jung Lee (International Section).
 
McGowan has coached at Converse University since the Spring of 2015, under tutelage the Valkyries have had success both on and off the course. In 2015 and 2017, McGowan coached the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and on two different occasions her players have captured Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year awards. Since 2015, McGowan has won six tournaments, had 13 tournament runner-up finishes and 11 top-three finishes at tournaments.
 
The LPGA Executive Committee will select the overall national award winner in each category from among the section award winners. The national winners will be announced in the coming weeks.
