GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their annual men's basketball coaches poll on Thursday afternoon, Converse University was picked to finish 10
th this season.
Converse is coming off a 12-16 season where the Valkyries made it to the second round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament for just the second time in program history. The Valkyries tallied 101 points in the poll this season, finishing ahead of Belmont Abbey, North Greenville, Southern Wesleyan, Shorter, Erskine and Ferrum.
UNC Pembroke was slated to win the conference with 225 total points and 15 first place votes in this year's poll. Young Harris was picked to finish second with 199 points and one first place, Emmanuel was picked third overall, followed by Chowan and Barton. King was picked to finish sixth, Mount Olive seventh, Francis Marion eighth and Lees-McRae ninth.
Camden Edmonds is the lone holdover from last year's Valkyrie squad. Edmonds redshirted last season and will be looking to make a splash in his collegiate debut.
Sirr Hughes is a transfer from Limestone University where he appeared in 28 games last season and tallied 559 points, 72 rebounds and 63 assists.
Jordyn Surratt is a transfer from Francis Marion, where he appeared in 29 games last season. Surratt tallied 438 points, 209 rebounds, 74 assists, 22 steals and 13 blocks for the Patriots.
