Converse Lacrosse Selected Sixth in Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their annual preseason women's lacrosse coaches poll and players to watch list, Converse University was selected to finish sixth overall.
 
Converse tallied 57 total points in the poll this season and finished just ahead of North Greenville and Shorter. Chowan was slated as the ninth best team, followed by Southern Wesleyan and Lees-McRae. Mount Olive was picked to win the poll with 100 total points and 10 first place votes, followed by Belmont Abbey with 91 total and one first place vote. Young Harris was picked to finish third, followed by Emmanuel and Barton.
 
Hailey Obenchain (Newburgh, Ind.) was picked to be a preseason player to watch for the Valkyries. The junior is a two-time Conference Carolinas All-Conference selection and the 2023 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year. Last season, Obenchain rewrote the program record book for points in a single season with 89. In just two seasons, the junior already holds the career record for assists (102) and points (173).
 
Izzy Eby (Lutz, Fla.) was also selected as a preseason player to watch by the Conference Carolinas office. In her freshman season, Eby finished second on the team with 44 goals on the season, third on the team in assists with 19, and third on the team in points with 63. Eby finished the season ranked second in the conference in free position goals per game (1.06) and free position percentage (.643).
 
Becky Reinhard (Middle Island, N.Y.) was picked as a preseason player to watch as well for the Valkyries. In her freshman season, Reinhard played and started in all 17 games for Converse and led the team with 60 goals. Reinhard finished the season with four assists, 64 points, 109 total shots, 90 shots on goal, and two game winning goals on the season. Reinhard scored a career high 9 goals against Southern Wesleyan (3/24/24) last season.
