GREENVILLE, S.C. – Following a week that saw him net three total goals including two game winners, junior forward Guilherme Fontes was named the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week.

In Wednesday's regional matchup at Anderson, Fontes netted the game-winning goal in the 12th minute, his only shot of the game. Saturday, with the Valkyries man-up due to a red card against Chowan, Fontes drilled a 70th minute free kick into the top left corner of the goal, drawing the game even against the conference's preseason favorite. With just under three minutes left in the game, another free kick from almost the exact same spot again passed the Hawk's goalkeeper, this time putting Converse up, a lead they did not relinquish.

Fontes tallied 153 minutes on the pitch in two games, split nearly evenly with 76 coming against Anderson and 77 coming against Chowan.
Converse returns to the pitch tonight, Sept. 17, as they host the Bob Jones Bruins at Weisiger Stadium for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to begin at 7 P.M.
