SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University acrobatics and tumbling team won compulsory, toss, tumbling, and the team event before falling to the West Liberty Hilltoppers.
Event 1 – Compulsory
Converse started strong, posting scores of 9.3, 9.6, 9.7, and 8.95 in the compulsory Acro, pyramid, toss, and tumbling heats. The Valkyries go into the next event 37.55-36.80 on the Hilltoppers.
Event 2 – Acro
Converse scored 8.5, 5.85, and 9.15 finishing with an event total of 23.5. The Valkyries head into the third event 61.05-65.20 to the Hilltoppers.
Event 3 – Pyramid
The Valkyries scored the highest in heat three with a 9.650 compared to the Hilltoppers 8.650. In heats one and two the Valkyries scored 9.5 and 5.7. With these theses scores the Valkyries go into the toss event down 85.90-93.25.
Event 4 – Toss
The Valkyries scored .7.95, 8.7, and 8.45 winning the event 25.1-24.7. The Valkyries head into the tumbling 111-117.95.
Event 5 – Tumbling
The Valkyries shined in the tumbling event, outscoring the Hilltoppers 52.9-51.125. Ayanna Manning's aerial pass, Ceanna Brown's 6 Element pass, and Krissa Gaines' Open pass had scores of 9.55, 9.225, and 9.575, respectively, to help Converse to a 52.9-51.125 event win.
Event 6 – Team
With a start value of 101.99 West Liberty scored 92.740 to end the meet with an overall score of 261.815. Converse started their team event with a 102.12 start value, the Valkyries scored a total of 93.220 points to end the meet with an overall score of 257.120
