Valkyries and Patriots Meet in CC Semifinals for Second Straight Year

Converse Notes:
  • The Valkyries enter the matchup after not having played since Nov. 4 when they drew with North Greenville 1-1 in Tigerville, South Carolina.
  • Junior Guilherme Fontes, senior Gabriel Verona and sophomore Mateo Sanchez all earned first team all-conference honors for the 2024 season.
  • Verona was honored as the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year while head coach Rob Miller was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
  • This will be the sixth meeting between the Valkyries and Patriots and the third to come in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship or later.
Francis Marion Notes:
  • The third-seeded Patriots last defeated the Mount Olive Trojans 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship.
  • Graduate student John Osadolor leads the team in scoring with 19 points.
  • Five Patriots were named to the Conference Carolinas all-conference teams: junior Juan Salazar Lopez (first team), graduate student Mario Buelga (first team), Osadolor (second team), graduate student Antonio Garda (third team) and junior David Guevara (third team).
  • Since Francis Marion joined Conference Carolinas for the 2021 soccer season, they are 3-3 all time in Conference Carolinas tournament games.
