Men’s Soccer Looks to Bounce Back Against Nationally-Ranked Coker

Converse enters the game after falling 3-0 to Barton on Saturday evening.
The Valkyries remained in the latest United Soccer Coaches southeast region poll. They earned the number six spot in the poll.
Three Valkyries have each scored a goal this season. One of the team's four goals was credited as an own goal against Mars Hill.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Baerwalde has held down the box for the Valkyries and has played in all 270 minutes thus far. He has a goals allowed average of 1.33 and recorded a clean sheet against Erskine in the first match of the season.

Coker Notes:

The Cobras were selected third in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll with 98 points and one first-place vote. They trailed only Wingate with 113 points and seven first-place votes and Lenoir-Rhyne with 101 points and two first-place votes.
The team is led in scoring by sophomore Celestin Blondel and senior forward Jacques Fokam Sandeu who have six points each through four games. Blondel leads the team in goals with three and Sandeu has netted two goals and two assists thus far.
Coker is ranked 16th in the United Soccer Coaches top 25 national poll. They are second in the southeast region poll.
The Cobras have played one common opponent with the Valkyries through four games. Both teams have played Mars Hill. Converse defeated the Lions 3-1 while Coker drew with Mars Hill 0-0.
