SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head golf coach
Patti McGowan officially announced the signing of Kali Lantis (Spearfish, S.D.) on Friday.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kali to the Valkyries golf family." McGowan said, "Kali is an outstanding fit for Converse golf as her primary swing coach at the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy is a former associate of mine. This will enable us to easily continue the massive progress Kalie has made toward competitive excellence over the past several years in attending both summer camps at the GolfZon Leadbetter Academy as well as full-time enrollment as a senior. Kali's drive and dedication is clearly demonstrated by her willingness to sacrifice her senior year at her hometown high school and make a major commitment to her development as a competitive player by attending Windermere Prep and the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy as a full-time student this past year."
Lantis played two years of high school golf for Spearfish High School in South Dakota before moving to Florida during her senior year of high school to attend Windemere Prep. While still living in South Dakota, Lantis helped her high school team to a Black Hills Conference Championship and she finished tied for first overall in the championship tournament. In Florida, Lantis spent her senior year at the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy and practiced up to three hours a day during the week. As part of the academy, the golfers compete and play in numerous competitions on a regular basis.
Outside of golf, Lantis was also a member of the debate team and the National Honor Society. Lantis graduated from Windemere Prep on May 26
