CENTRAL, S.C. – The Converse University track and field program had their best meet of the season at Southern Wesleyan's Gotta Run Invite on Saturday, April 1 that saw the Valkyries bring home five first-place finishes along with several other podium awards.
 
Converse Notes:

• Kamille Dixon placed 2^nd in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:27.68.
• In the men's long jump, Caden Gamble finished 5^th with a mark of 6.41 meters while Elijah Hall finished 7^th at 6.29 meters. Hall later placed 5^th in the triple jump with a 12.80-meter mark.
• Anna-Fidelia Rusing had a 4^th place finish in the 5,000-meter run.
• Bella Martin placed 3^rd in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.78 meters. Mackenzie Weatherford placed 11^th at 36.24 meters. Both of these marks were personal records.
• Jaxon Wright and Sebastian Dozier finished back-to-back in the men's 5,000-meter run. Wright placed 8^th at 16:24.97 and Dozier finished 9^th at 16:25.47.
• The 4x100-meter relay team made up of Eseose Okoduwa, Krishayla Boyd, Madison Griffin and Shaniya Grey placed 3^rd with a time of 48.57 seconds.
• Mackenzie Whiteside took home gold in the triple jump at a mark of 10.85 meters. Nashayla Warren placed 4^th in the event at a mark of 10.46 meters. Janyia Pinckney finished 6^th in the event with a mark of 9.66 meters.
• Jordan Brown took home her own gold in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters. Phoebe Myers finished 3^rd at 1.60 meters and D'Asia Thomas tied for 6^th at 1.50 meters.
• Myers won the 100-meter hurdle event with a time of 14.38 seconds. Thomas finished in 6^th at 15.31 seconds.
• On the men's side of the 100-meter hurdles, Donald Medley placed 7^th at 16.08 seconds.
• Grey finished 6^th in the 400-meter dash, clocking in with a time of 59.42 seconds.
• Okoduwa and Boyd finished one after the other in the 100-meter dash. Okoduwa finished 3^rd with a school record time of 12.11 seconds. Boyd finished 4^th at a PR time of 12.17 seconds. The two also finished back-to-back in the 200-meter dash. Okoduwa placed 3^rd at 24.89 seconds and Boyd placed 4^th at 25.02 seconds.
• Gavin McFadden won the men's 100-meter dash at a time of 10.50 seconds. This is a NCAA provisional qualifying time, a school record and a new PR time for McFadden. Gerrard Donald took home 7^th place in the same event with a time of 10.84 seconds.
• Ruth Spijker stood in first place after the 800-meter dash and Bayley Robinson finished 3^rd.
• Latavia Bracey Ransom had a 6^th place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:12.15.
• Rusing and Spijker took home 2^nd and 3^rd in the 3,000-meter run with times of 11:29.93 and 11:35.36, respectively.
• Luis Rios Brena placed 8^th in the men's 3,000-meter event at 9:32.10. DreQuan Guyton took home 10^th at 9:40.60.

The Valkyries will be back in action on Friday, April 7 at the Newberry College Invite.
