Men’s Soccer Seeks Second Consecutive Conference Title Sunday Afternoon

Converse Notes:

The Valkyries enter Sunday's game after knocking off the top-seeded Francis Marion Patriots 4-1 Friday at Bryan Park. It is only the second time Francis Marion has conceded four goals in a game since joining Conference Carolinas. It is the only time they have done so to a fellow member of the conference.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Baerwalde was just 37 seconds away from his fifth shutout of the season. He is a part of a four-way tie for the conference lead.
Sophomore forward Kyle Lewis scored for just the second and third time Friday when he netted half of the Valkyries' four goals.
The men's soccer team is seeking Converse's second NCAA Tournament berth in the school's NCAA-era which began in 1998.

Chowan Notes:

The Hawks posted a 7-2-2 record and were the runners-up in the east division to top-seeded Francis Marion.
As the No. 2 seed, the Hawks received a double bye straight to the semifinals. They defeated sixth-seeded Barton 3-2 in overtime on Friday afternoon.
The Valkyries were the only member of the northwest division that did not square off with the Hawks this season. Chowan posted a 2-1 record with wins against King and Lees-McRae. They suffered an early-season loss to Belmont Abbey.
Chowan had four student-athletes named to the Conference Carolinas all-conference teams. Sophomore midfielder Bradley Binns, graduate defender Harri Lovett and sophomore goalkeeper Chase Jansen were all named first-team selections. Graduate defender Charlie Birch earned third-team honors.
