GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas league office named
Makenna Hill,
Ayellad Howard and
Victoria Dichio to its 2023 Softball Players to Watch list on Wednesday morning.
Hill, a sophomore infielder from Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada comes to Converse after playing one year at Herkimer Community College. Dichio and Howard will both be in their first collegiate seasons with Dichio being a left-handed pitcher from Crawfordville, Fla. while Howard is an outfielder from Santa Clarita, California.
The Converse Valkyries were chosen to finish 13
th in the preseason coaches poll with 17 points. King (132) was picked to finish first, receiving six first place votes followed by Mount Olive (132) who had four first place votes and Francis Marion (112) and Emmanuel (100) who each also had a first-place vote.
Belmont Abbey came in at fifth (94), Barton at sixth (88) and UNC Pembroke (82) in seventh with the Braves receiving the final first place vote. Lees-McRae (75), North Greenville (74), Erskine (44), Southern Wesleyan (35) and Chowan (29) rounded out the rest of the league.
Converse will start its season by hosting the first ever Valkyrie Classic Tournament on February 3 and 4 at Tyger River Stadium.
