Track and Field Splits Up for Meets at UAB and USC this Weekend

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University track and field programs will compete at both the University of Alabama at Birmingham Invitational and the University of South Carolina Gamecock Opener this weekend. The distance runners will be at the Gamecock Opener on Saturday while the rest of the team will be competing at UAB.

Converse Notes:

This will be the second meet for both the men's and women's teams after more than a month off.
At the JDL College Kick-Off on December 3, Lauren Beatty finished second overall in the 3,000-meter race followed by Kamille Dixon who placed third. Beatty's time in the race puts her leading the conference in the event.
In the mile event, Ruth Spijker finished third overall, Beatty finished sixth overall and Dixon followed in eighth place. Spijker leads the conference with her time in the event as well.
Bayley Robinson's time of 2:29.11 landed her a third-place finish in the 800-meter event and she currently leads the conference in that event with her time.
Freshman Shaniya Grey broke the indoor school record in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.76 seconds.
Gavin McFadden broke his own school records in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter event with times of 6.91 seconds and 22.64 seconds, respectively.
Elijah Hall finished fifth overall in the triple jump, setting a new school record with a leap of 12.74 meters.
