SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University cross country programs will host the Converse Kick-Off Meet on Saturday morning at Milliken Research Park. The men will race at 8:30 a.m. in the 8k and the women will race in the 6k at 9:15 a.m.

Time: 8:30 a.m. (Men's 8k), 9:15 a.m. (Women's 6k)
Teams Participating: Anderson, Francis Marion, Mount Olive, Berry, North Greenville, Erskine (women only), Spartanburg Methodist, USC Beaufort, Belmont Abbey, Catawba, Gaston (women only), Lander, Lees-McRae and USC Aiken.

Women's Notes:
The Valkyrie women last competed on September 2 in the USC Upstate Eye Opener Meet. This meet was held at Milliken Research Park, the same place that they will be racing at on Saturday morning. While they are racing at the same venue, the team will be running the 6k instead of the 5k.
In their first meet on the season, freshman
Lauren Beatty impressed everyone by being the top D2 runner in the race. She finished with a time of 19:29.0 which helped the women's team finish fourth overall, the highest finishing D2 team. Behind Beatty was sophomore
Ashley Sosa (19:41.2) and junior
Kamille Dixon (19:55.4).
In the week one USTFCCCA rankings, the Converse women's program was ranked 8
th in the NCAA D2 Southeast region. This is the first time that the team has ever been in the rankings.
Men's Notes:
In just their second year as a program and first race of the 2022 season, the men's team finished sixth overall in the USC Upstate Eye Opener held on September 2. The men competed at Milliken Research Park in the 8k, the same exact course that they will be racing at this Saturday.
At the Eye Opener, freshman
Jaxon Wright was the top finisher for the team with a time of 28:14.2. He was followed by freshman
Zackery Carver (28:26.3) and sophomore
DreQuan Guyton (28:34.0).
