Cross Country Completes 2025 Campaign At Southeast Regional Meet

WINGATE, N.C. – In the final meet of the 2025 cross country season, the Converse University cross country teams put up strong showings, with the women finishing 17th in the 6K and the men finishing 12th in the 10K.

Junior Paisley Stepp finished first for the Valkyrie women, the first time this season she has done so. Sophomore Ander Vera Moleres finished first for the Converse men, the first time he has done so since the first race of the season on Sept. 5.

The host Wingate Bulldogs won both races. On the women's side, all five of the Bulldogs' scorers finished inside the top ten. On the men's side, Wingate's five scorers all finished inside the top six, including taking the top four spots. The individuals from the women's runner-up, Catawba, finished no worse than 18th. The individuals from the men's runner-up, Anderson, finished no worse than 19th.

Women's Notes:

Stepp led the way for the Valkyrie women in 72nd with a time of 24:35.25.
Sophomore Peyton MacMillan finished next in 89th with a time of 24:58.57.
Freshman Ines Pierrefitte finished third for the Valkyries in 102nd with a time of 25:39.81.
Junior Mackenzie Crandell finished next in 118th with a time of 26:19.84.
Sophomore Hailey Jones was the final Valkyrie to finish the race in 133rd with a time of 27:10.03.

Men's Notes:

For the second time this season and first since early September, Vera Moleres was the Valkyries' top finisher. He finished in 37th place with a time of 33:23.67.
Sophomore Alex Porter finished next with a time of 34:02.23.
Senior Jaxon Wright finished next for the Valkyries with a time of 35:11.44 in 84th place.
Sophomore Reece Evans finished fourth for the Valkyries in 96th place with a time of 35:41.43.
Freshman Benjamin Notarangelo rounded out the scorers with a time of 36:12.87 in 111th place.
Sophomore Marti Ruiz Barreda and freshman James Hook finished the race in 120th and 127th place respectively. They posted times of 36:12.87 and 36:35.44.

Next Up:
While the 2025 cross country season has come to an end for the Valkyries, the 2025-26 track and field season is just under a month away. The Valkyries begin the season at the Winston-Salem College Kick-off at JDL Fast Track on Saturday, Dec. 6.
