Valkyries Remain At Seventh in Latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Converse University men's cross country team remained at seventh in the latest Southeast Regional poll by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as released by the organization on Tuesday, the second consecutive week they have earned that spot. The entire Southeast Region poll is unchanged from last week.

In their latest race, the Royals Cross Country Challenge, the Valkyries finished eighth overall and were sixth among Division II teams. Converse was the top-finishing team from Conference Carolinas.

After entering the poll at 10th on Sept. 29, Converse improved in each of the next polls. Two weeks ago the Valkyries were ranked ninth before reaching a season-high seventh in the poll released last week.

The defending national champion Wingate Bulldogs sit atop the regional poll and are also ranked first in the national poll.

The Valkyries are joined in the regional rankings by a pair of Conference Carolinas schools. Young Harris is the highest-ranked team from the conference, up to fifth, their highest ranking of the season. UNC Pembroke is ranked eighth for the fourth consecutive week.

The Valkyries return to the course for the Conference Carolinas Championship on Saturday, Nov. 7. The morning race will be held at Milliken Research Park.
