HARRISBURG, Pa. – Converse University sophomore
Madison Montgomery finished inside the Top-16 in the Individual Limit Equitation on the Flat Event at the IHSA National Championship on Thursday afternoon at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.
Montgomery is the first Converse rider to make it to the National Championship since Cate Billings made it almost a decade ago. The sophomore was also the only rider from the upstate of South Carolina to compete in the event. Audrey Villarreal of the University of Kentucky won the event, with Allison Bauer (St. Lawrence University) and Sophia Strain (Centenary University) rounding out the top three spots on the podium.
The IHSA All-Academic Teams were also announced earlier today,
Adara Aho,
Heather Harris,
Josie McDevitt,
Neely Vander Ploeg and
Anna Ruby Whitmire all earned First Team All-Academic nods.
Kinsley Allaire,
Olivia Liopiros and
Sydney Shipp all received Second Team All-Academic honors.
This will conclude the 2021-2022 Equestrian season for Converse University.
