TRYON, N.C. – Sophomore
Halle Aho (Campobello, S.C.) competed in the IHSA National Championships today at Tryon International and came away as the Reserve Champion in the Introductory Equitation Event.
"I am so proud of Halle this season," said Converse University Equestrian head coach
Amelia Nowicki. "We had big goals, and she worked so hard to make them happen. It was great to see the support from her teammates and our athletic director today, as well! Reserve National Champion is such a huge honor, and I am so proud to be Halle's coach!"
Aho's runner-up finish is the highest finish by a Converse equestrian rider in over 30 years. Cooper Chapman remains the only individual National Champion for the equestrian team, she took home the 1992 Intermediate Fences title.
Maggie Armes of College of Charleston won the event, while Alexa Carey of Cornell University rounded out the podium on Saturday afternoon. Aho was the only rider from the Upstate of South Carolina to compete in the event.
