SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse acrobatics and tumbling team posted a season high score of 267.260 in their senior day tri-meet against Chowan and Limestone.
Event 1 – Compulsory
The Valkyries started off strong, taking an early lead after posting a 37.400 in the event. Limestone followed with a 37.250 while Chowan trailed with a 21.55. Converse scored a 9.80/10 in the compulsory pyramid heat, their highest heat score in the compulsory event.
Event 2 – Acro
Limestone made a comeback in the event, earning a 29.35 compared to Converse's 28.35. The Saints highest heat score was a 9.95 in the 5-element heat, compared to the Valkyries' 9.90. Chowan struggled, only scoring a total of 22.70 points.
Event 3 – Pyramid
Going into the third heat trailing 65.75 to Limestone's 66.70, Converse would start the event off by scoring a 9.95/10 in the inversion pyramid heat. Limestone would answer with a 10/10 in the open pyramid heat, advancing their overall lead to a 96.15. The Valkyries followed with a 94.90 while the Hawks had an overall score of 57.10 going into halftime.
Event 4 – Toss
To start the second half, Chowan would attempt a comeback, scoring an 8.15/9.00 in the 450 Salto Toss heat. Converse's highest heat score in the event was an 8.95/9.40 in the 450 Salto Toss. The Hawks earned a 22.20 in the toss event, Limestone earned 26.95, and Converse followed with 26.05.
Event 5 – Tumbling
Chowan scratched the trio, quad and 6-element passes, only accumulating 21.575 points in the event. Tanjae Lugo scored a 9.5/9.55 in her 6-element pass, helping Converse score a 52.500 in the event. Limestone earned a 53.000 in the event after posting a 9.550/9.8 in their 6-element pass.
Event 6 – Team
Converse outscored Limestone 93.81-93.50 in the team event, helping them to finish the meet with a 267.260, their highest score of the season. Limestone ended the night with a 269.600 while Chowan had 100.875 after not competing in the team event.
