No. 10 Converse will Face No. 7 Wingate in First Round of NCAA Super Region II Men’s Soccer Tournament

The Series
This will be the first time that Converse and Wingate will face each other.
 
Converse Notes:
  • Converse is 13-1-4 overall after picking up their 13th win of the season to claim the title of Conference Carolinas Champions to go along with their Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions title.
  • In the championship game, the Valkyries defeated Francis Marion 1-0 to make history and win their first ever conference title. Tobias Bruecher scored the single goal of the game during the 78th minute of action.
  • Bruecher, Felix Frenz, Jayson Frink and Ricky Cardozo were named to the All-Tournament Team while David Windmilller was named the All-Tournament MVP.
  • Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference member Hayden Gensler leads the Valkyries with 10 goals, two assists, 22 points and 36 shots throughout the whole season. Fellow First Team All-Conference member Sergi Quixal follows with five goals, six assists, 16 points and 26 shots on the year.
  • In goal, Windmiller, Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference goalkeeper, leads with 54 saves, a .83 goals against average and a .783 save percentage.
  • Head coach Rob Miller was named Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year and had 10 student-athletes named to the all-conference list.
  • This is the first NCAA berth for Converse as they continue to make history in just their second year as a program.
Wingate Notes:
  • Wingate is 10-4-5 overall after dropping a 1-0 contest to Lenoir-Rhyne in the semifinals of the SAC Men's Soccer Tournament.
  • In the loss, Tim Martins led the team with two shots while seven other Bulldogs each took one shot.
  • Emil Svenander leads Wingate overall with seven goals, one assist, 15 points and 39 shots. Owen Marshall follows with five goals, 10 points and 19 shots.
  • Aleksa Janjic leads the 'Dogs in goal with 56 saves on the season with a .65 goals against average and a .829 save percentage.
  • Wingate was named SAC Regular Season Champions. Gary Hamill was named SAC Coach of the Year, Owen Miller was named SAC Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference member along with four other student-athletes being named to the All-Conference list.
  • This is Wingate's 11th all-time appearance in the NCAA tournament and their seventh appearance in the past nine years.
