The Series
Converse University and Catawba College are meeting for the first time in program history on Wednesday night. This will be the Valkyries fourth consecutive night match of the season and one of their toughest tests yet with an undefeated Catawba team.
Converse Notes:
- The Valkyries are 2-1 on the season with wins over Bob Jones and Columbia College.
- Converse is coming a off a 4-0 win over Bob Jones, the win marks the first road victory in program history.
- The Valkyries are 0-1 against South Atlantic Conference opponents with their only blemish of the season coming against Mars Hill.
- Converse is averaging 3.00 goals per game, 18.3 shots per game and 4.3 saves per game.
- Tim Boeckstaens and Hayden Gensler are both tied for the team lead in goals this season with two each. Gensler leads the team in total shots with 7 on the season.
- David Windmiller is coming off his second clean sheet of the 2021 season and has recorded a .786 save percentage in three matches this year.
Catawba Notes:
- The Catawba Indians are 4-0 on the season and have out scored opponents 9-2 this season.
- Catawba is 3-0 against Conference Carolina schools with wins over Mount Olive, Barton and Belmont Abbey.
- Catawba will be playing their fourth home game of the 2021 season on Wednesday evening.
- Seven different players have scored for the Catawba Indians, with Simone Trentin leading the way with a pair of goals on the season.
- Trentin also leads the team in total points (5), total shots (23), shots on goal (11) and game winners (2).
- Tom Savigar leads the team with two assists on the season and is second on the team in total points with four.
- Tommasi Gianluca has played the entire season in goal and has recorded 14 saves on 35-shots faced. Gianluca has recorded two clean sheets on the season and has a .875 save percentage.
