Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Valkyries cut the Pfeiffer deficit to one possession early in the fourth quarter but couldn't shake the cold shooting from the floor as Converse falls 60-49 in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening.
Converse (2-7, 1-4) was led offensively by Kassidy Moorhouse (Anderson, S.C.) with 10 points going 7-8 from the charity stripe thanks to drawing fouls on two shots from behind the arc. Yashee Johnson (West Columbia, S.C.) added eight points and three blocks. Erin Horne (Orlando, Fla.) added eight points, four assists and six boards, while Logan Hollis (Spartanburg, S.C.) chipped in eight points with eight boards and one block.
With the Valkyries down by eight (39-31) to start the fourth stanza, Converse and Pfeiffer (3-6, 2-3) traded baskets before Kassidy Moorhouse went on a 5-0 run hitting two freebies and a long distance connection brought the deficit down to 43-40. Pfeiffer countered with a three of their own. Moorhouse was fouled behind the arc with just over six minutes remaining. The junior hit all three attempts to bring it once again to within three (48-45).
Paige Johnson (Greenville, S.C.) would hit a jumper at the 3:40 to keep the contest within reach at 50-47 in favor of the Falcons. The Falcons would go on a 10-0 run to take a firm grasp on the contest.
Converse returns to the court Friday, January 8 against Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae as part of Family Weekend. Tip-off is at 7pm.
