Valkyries Slip To #4 Team In Nation

4-13-2010 – Spartanburg, SC – The Valkyries fell to Limestone on Tuesday evening, dropping to 5 – 10 on the season. The Valkyries have had many close games this year, including losing two in double overtime. Limestone is ranked 4th in the nation with only one loss on the season.

"They are very disciplined and fundamentally sound," commented Coach Julie Redman on Limestone. "Although you can tell they have played together for a while and have more experience, I see us reaching that caliber very soon."

Despite their record, the Valkyries have greatly improved from last year, especially their offense. Freshmen Bridget Dullea (Peabody, MS) added two more goals to her impressive total of 63 goals on the season. Bridget leads Division Two in goals score with teammate Lacy Bevilacqua (Carlsbad, CA) just behind her as the 2nd leading scorer in the nation with 50.

"It's an honor to be considered the top scorer in the nation, I was shocked to find out," commented Bridget. "But what matters to me most is that what I am doing is helping the team succeed and win."

The Valkyries head into their final two games with Saturday April 17that Lees-McRae and Tuesday home against Belmont Abbey at 4:00PM.
