Charlotte, NC-Senior Ashley Arff scored her 1000th career point with her final shot against Conference Carolinas foe Queens University of Charlotte on Monday evening. Queens won the game 88-61, earning their first conference win of the season.
The first half opened with the Royals grabbing a 13-0 run. Converse eventually returned seven unanswered points and the Valkyries were able to tie the game at 32-32 with just 3:30 left in the period. Queens closed the half up by eight, earning points on several free throws.
Although Converse fell behind in the second half, Ashley Arff managed a game high 24 points and hit her 1000th career point on the nose. Sophomore Alaina Smith also contributed an impressive 12 points to the Valkyries score.
The Royals were led by Shakaria Hamlin who scored 22 points.
Converse returns to the court when they visit number one ranked conference foe Anderson University on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
