SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Conference Carolinas Northwest Division Rival Lees-McRae on Wednesday evening at Weisiger Stadium.
With the loss the Valkyries drop to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2-0 in Conference Carolinas action this season. Meanwhile, Lees-McRae improves to 2-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in Conference play.
In the first half the Valkyries had to play a defensive game as they withstood a barrage of shots from the Bobcats offense. The defense held strong with six first half saves, but in the 36
th minute of action Addy Geiss found Riley Huffman for the games lone goal of the match.
In the second half the two teams battled to a stalemate as Lees-McRae outshot Converse 4-2. Only three total corner kicks were taken in the second half as the Valkyries ran out of time before they could score the equalizer.
Next up for the Valkyries:
Converse will stay at home and face Ferrum on Saturday evening, kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. start at Weisiger Stadium.
