Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Valkyries Battle Trojans to Scoreless Draw

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – For the first time this season, the Converse University women's soccer team (2-4-2, 2-3-1 Conference Carolinas) recorded a shutout. Unfortunately for the Valkyries, that shutout came in the same game they were also shut out by the Mount Olive Trojans (4-3-3, 2-0-3 Conference Carolinas) Saturday afternoon at Amon Field on the campus of the University of Mount Olive.

The Trojans held the edge in shots, 15-10, but the Valkyries attempted more shots on goal, 8-5.

Freshman goalkeeper Sofía Casares Herrasti played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves in her first career clean sheet.

Six different Valkyries attempted shots on goal, with junior forward Varinia Delgado and sophomore forward Kathryn Hoffman leading Converse with two shots on goal each.

Next up for the Valkyries:
The Valkyries return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, as they head to Belmont to take on the Belmont Abbey Trojans at 4:30 P.M.
