SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's basketball team signed seven freshmen from the State of South Carolina this past recruiting cycle.

Kyle Perry went on say, "These guys will not only represent us well on the court but also in the community and classroom."
Isaiah Atkins (Boiling Springs, S.C.) – Atkins played four years at Boiling Springs High School, averaging 15 points per game his senior season. Atkins holds the school record for field goal percentage in a career, blocked shots in a game, blocked shots in a season and blocked shots in a career. Atkins played club basketball for Future Kings.
Eli Brown (Gaffney, S.C.) – Brown played four years at Chesnee High School and tallied 1,613 points during his career. Brown added 517 career rebounds, 258 career assist, 140 career steals and 23 career blocks for Chesnee. While at Chesnee, Brown was named the Winningest Player in 2022 and 2023. Brown played club basketball for Next Level Upstate Hornets NLPB.
Kevin Butler (Fort Mill, S.C.) – Butler played four years at Catawba Ridge High School and averaged 14 points per game. Butler was an All-Region selection and played club basketball for Next Level. Outside of sports, Butler was a member of Beta Club and Palmetto Boys State.
Jayden Crews (Columbia, S.C.) – Crews played four years at Westwood High School and helped the Redhawks to their first State Championship this past season. In his final two seasons at Westwood, Crews tallied 406 points, 168 rebounds, 80 assists, 47 steals and 6 blocks. Crews played club basketball for Upward Stars. Outside of athletics, Crews was a member of Beta Club and the Technical Honor Society.
Gavin Griffin (Greenville, S.C.) – Griffin played four years at Greenville High School and averaged 16.2 points per game during his senior season. Griffin helped the Red Raiders make back-to-back State Championship appearances during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 basketball seasons, with Greenville capturing the title in 2024-2025.
AJ Jeter (Newberry, S.C.) – Was a dual-sport athlete at Newberry High School, competing on both the Basketball and Track and Field teams. Jeter was a three-time All-Region Player, an All-State Player and helped his team to the Region Championship in 2024. Jeter averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds per game in high school. Jeter played club basketball for Upward Stars, Future Kings and TNG. Outside of athletics, Jeter was the Treasure of SGA, President of FCA, a Junior Marshall, member of Boys State, Beta Club, National Honors Society and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Jeter comes from an athletic family, father played at South Carolina State, mother was a dual-sport athlete at Newberry College and was inducted into the Newberry College Hall of Fame in 2023.
Reese Jolley (Chapin, S.C.) – Was a dual-sport athlete at Chapin High School where he helped the Eagles win the State Championship in baseball this past year. On the hardwood, Jolley averaged 10.3 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game and 3.9 assists per game. Outside of athletics, Jolley was the Choir Class President. Jolley comes from an athletic family, his father played collegiate baseball and football.
