Casares Herrasti Posts Second Shutout of Season in Sunday Draw with Bobcats

BANNER ELK, N.C. – For the second consecutive game, the Converse University women's soccer team (3-5-4, 3-4-3 Conference Carolinas) earned at least one point in the divisional standings. They did so by tying the Lees-McRae Bobcats (6-2-4, 5-1-3 Conference Carolinas) 0-0 Sunday afternoon at Tate Field on the campus of Lees-McRae College.

The Valkyries managed just a pair of shots while giving up nearly ten times as many, 19, to the Bobcats. The Valkyries attempted just one shot on goal, a 66th-minute attempt from junior Sierra Criner, while Lees-McRae attempted 10.

Freshman goalkeeper Sofía Casares Herrasti recorded 10 saves and played all 90 minutes. It is her second solo shutout of the season.

Next up for the Valkyries:
The Valkyries return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, as they host the Carson-Newman Eagles at Weisiger Stadium. The game is set to begin at 5 P.M.
