Valkyries Stumble Against Patriots on Saturday Afternoon

FLORENCE, S.C. – A mid-second-half goal proved to be the difference in the Converse University women soccer team's (2-4-2, 1-2-1 Conference Carolinas) 1-0 Saturday-evening matchup with the Francis Marion Patriots (6-0, 4-0 Conference Carolinas).

The Patriots held an 18-4 advantage in shots for the game. The Valkyries put one shot on target compared to a ten by the Patriots.

While Francis Marion ripped a quartet of shots early in the game, neither team was able to find a goal and the game went into halftime even 0-0.

Near the end of the 49th minute sophomore forward Norah Greer took the team's only shot on goal of the game. After Francis Marion scored in the 64th minute, senior defender Giulia Rodrigues took a shot six minutes later that bounced off the crossbar. It proved to be the Valkyries final chance at scoring.
