SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) fell 2-0 to the UNC Pembroke Braves (1-2, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) Saturday afternoon at Weisiger Stadium.

The Braves, who finished second in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll, outshot the Valkyries 6-2 in the first half. Despite the advantage, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half.

UNC Pembroke brought an onslaught of shots, attempting 17 in the final 45 minutes, two of which found the back of the net. One goal came off of a corner in the 55th minute and the other came just under seven minutes later in the 62nd minute.

The Valkyries made several pushes to the goal over the final 28 minutes, but were able to muster just one shot on goal following Pembroke's second goal.

The Valkyries continue their homestand as they host the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The match is set to begin at 4:30 P.M.
