SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse University head field hockey coach
Valerie Clarke has announced the addition of eight signees for the 2025 recruiting class.
"I'm so excited for these eight to join our FHAMILY and complete our incoming class of 14 this year!" Clarke went on to say, "These eight add more depth and skills to every position on the field, and will come in with the opportunity to compete right away. As is standard with our program, they come from all over the country and world, continuing our long-standing tradition of a global program representing seven countries in total. I'm so excited to have our incoming class on campus soon so team nine can get to work!"
Brooke Burgin (Asheville, N.C.) – Was team captain of the Asheville high school field hockey team. Burgin was a three-time Offensive Player of the Year and was named the 2024 Conference Player of the Year. Burgin helped her team to a pair of Regional Championships at Asheville high school and concluded her prep career with 51 goals, 28 assists, and 178 shots.
Mayla Weissenrieder (Monsheim, Germany) – Competed on the soccer and swim teams at Nelly-Sachs-IGS Horchheim. Weissenrieder played club hockey for TGW Hockey.
Autumn Kern (Lusby, Md.) – A multi-sport athlete that lettered in Field Hockey, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Softball at Patuxent High School. Was a three-time first team All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference, an All-MET Honorable Mention, and a Second Team All-State Selection. Played club field hockey for SOMD Eliminators. Outside of athletics was a member of NHS SGA, and Best Buddies.
Delfi Gonzalez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) – Played field hockey for Instituto libre de Segunda Ensenanza and Club Hockey for San Cirano.
Mo Gerber (Carlisle, Pa.) – Played four years of field hockey and one year of lacrosse at Carlisle High School. Played club hockey for PA Revolution and was member of National Honor Society outside of athletics.
Carmen Heisterkamp (Brasschaat, Belgium) – Competed for the International School Breda and played club hockey for Dragons/BH & BC Breda. Outside of athletics, was head of student council and was the editor of the yearbook committee.
Camille Hordies (Virginal, Belgium) – Played hockey for the Royal Pingouin Hockey Club and helped her team win both the indoor and outdoor championships. Hordies was nominated a trio of times for the golden stick award. Hordies is currently in the district program, which is the beginning to be on the national team.
Sol Garcia Berro (Buenos Aires, Argentina) – Was a multi-sport athlete that competed in field hockey, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, tennis and athletics. Was captain of several field hockey teams, including Club Atletico de San Isidro. Garcia Berro graduated with honors for an average higher than 8/10.
