Lund Nets Two Goals As Valkyries Top King 3-1

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Converse University women's soccer team (4-5-2, 3-3-1 Conference Carolinas) came home victorious as they defeated the King University Tornado (5-4, 3-3 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 3-1 on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

The Valkyries struck early with a pair of goals coming under 30 seconds apart in the 13th and 14th minutes. Senior Skylar Lund netted her fourth goal of the season on a perfect corner kick from junior Hannah Liebig. Just 25 seconds later, Liebig scored herself, putting Converse up 2-0.

The Tornado cut the lead in half with a goal two and a half minutes later.

The Valkyries added another goal when Lund netted her second of the game and fifth of the season, making her the second Valkyrie to score five goals this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Julia Salo made her first career start today and recorded six saves on seven shots faced.

Next Up:
The Valkyries continue divisional play as they head to Banner Elk, North Carolina take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 P.M.
