BANNER ELK, N.C. – After nearly completing a scoreless draw in the teams' second matchup of the season, the Converse University women's soccer team (4-6-2, 3-4-1 Conference Carolinas) conceded an 89th-minute goal to the Lees-McRae Bobcats (5-5-2, 4-3-1 Conference Carolinas) on what would turn out to be the final shot of the game. Lees-McRae won 1-0.

The Valkyries and Bobcats were even offensively in the first half, both taking three shots in the opening 45 minutes, Lees-McRae more than doubled that in the second half, attempting eight shots while only allowing Converse to take two shots in the second half.

While the Bobcats outpaced the Valkyries in the number of shots taken, they struggled to get many on target as they had just a pair of shots on goal. With six fewer shots attempted in the game, Converse had three shots on goal.

The only goal of the game came just into the 89th minute after a misplay in the box allowed the Bobcats an open look at the net.

The Valkyries wrap up nonconference action as they host the Anderson Trojans on Tuesday, Oct. 14 for Most Valuable Professor Night. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 P.M.
