Women’s Soccer Falls to Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. – The Converse University soccer team (3-5-2, 2-3-1 Conference Carolinas) fought to the end in their Saturday divisional matchup against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (6-3-1, 4-1-1 Conference Carolinas) but ultimately fell 2-0 to the Crusaders.

The Valkyries and Crusaders both took six shots in the first half, but only the Crusaders were able to score, netting a goal in the 28th minute.

They struck again in the 63rd minute, doubling the lead. They held an even more oppressive lead in shots in the final 45 minutes, 11-3.

The Valkyries' final shot on goal came in the 76th minute as senior Samantha Novik ripped a shot that was saved by the Crusaders' keeper.

Next Up:
The Valkyries continue their road trip with another divisional foe on Tuesday, Oct. 7. They head to Bristol, Tennessee to take on the King University Tornado at 3:30 P.M.
