YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – In the team's penultimate road game for the 2025 season, the Converse University women's soccer team (5-9-2, 4-6-1 Conference Carolinas) fell to the Young Harris Mountain Lions (7-5-3, 6-2-3 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
Despite the loss, the Valkyries' goalkeepers combined for six saves, equal to the number recorded by Young Harris.
The game was close in the first half, with just nine total shots between the two teams. It took Converse over 26 minutes to attempt their first shot. The shot, coming off of the foot of senior
Jasmine Hernandez, was just the fourth shot of the game and the second shot on goal attempted by either team.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half. It wasn't until just over four minutes into the second half when Young Harris struck from the top of the box.
The Valkyries attempted 13 shots in the second half, including five of the team's six shots on goal, but were unable to convert any into a goal.
With just under eight minutes remaining in the game, Young Harris struck again, doubling the lead to 2-0.

The Valkyries final road game of the 2025 season is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28 as they head to Tigerville, South Carolina to take on the North Greenville Trailblazers. The game is set to begin at 5 P.M.
