Valkyries Drop Divisional Matchup to Belmont Abbey

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's soccer team (5-8-2, 4-5-1 Conference Carolinas) fell to the conference's top-ranked team, the Belmont Abbey Crusaders (10-4-1, 8-1-1 Conference Carolinas), by a final score of 4-0 Tuesday night in the team's penultimate home game.

The Valkyries dominated the opening 15 minutes of the match, keeping the ball on the Crusaders' defensive half almost the entire time. Unfortunately, the Valkyries managed just one shot during that period.

Belmont Abbey controlled the ball for the majority of the rest of the game. They scored their first goal in the 32nd minute and took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

They scored again just over 16 minutes into the second half and added another two goals over the next 80 seconds, putting the Crusaders up 4-0 with just over 27 minutes remaining in the match.

Next Up:
The Valkyries head on the road to Young Harris, Georgia, to take on the Young Harris College Mountain Lions on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match is set to begin at 1 P.M.
