SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's soccer team (5-7-2, 4-4-1 Conference Carolinas) sent a flurry of goals to the back of the net on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Shorter University Hawks (1-8-2, 0-7-2 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 7-0. It is the team's second-highest scoring game of the season.

The Valkyries put up their most goals in a conference game since defeating Southern Wesleyan 6-4 on Oct. 25, 2016.

Converse allowed just two shots in the game, both coming in the first half and neither was on-goal. The Valkyries attempted 28 shots, 14 in both halves. Sixteen of the Valkyries' shots were on-goal.

The Valkyries got the scoring started halfway through the sixth minute as senior Raegan Cash scored her first goal of the season. Fellow senior Skylar Lund netted her sixth goal of the season ten and half minutes later off of an assist from junior Malaya Fuller.

Just two minutes later, sophomore Sam Quillen netted her first goal of the season with an assist from freshman Kathryn Hoffman.

Just after the 35-minute mark, senior Samantha Novik scored an Olympico, scoring directly from a corner kick.

Not even a minute into the second half, Lund scored her second goal of the match with an assist from Novik. Seven minutes later, Quillen netted her second goal of both the game and season.

With just 10 seconds remaining in the match, Hoffman scored her fourth goal of the season, bringing the game to its final score of 7-0.
