YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Converse Volleyball team picked up their fifth straight win on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Young Harris 3-1 inside the Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
By winning the first two sets on Saturday afternoon the Valkyries won their 12
th and 13
th consecutive sets dating back to a win over Belmont Abbey nearly two weeks. Last season the Valkyries tied the program record with 12 straight sets won in early September. With the win Converse improves to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in Conference Carolinas play. Meanwhile, Young Harris falls to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in Conference Carolinas action.
In the opening set, the Valkyries jumped out to a 10-4 advantage over Young Harris. The Valkyries stretched their lead to 19-9 over the Mountain Lions and won the opening set by a final score of 25-14.
In the second set, the two teams were tied through the first 10 points of the period. A few moments later the Valkyries held a 12-6 advantage and eventually turned that into an 18-9 lead over Young Harris. Converse ended the second set on a 7-3 run and won the period by a final score of 25-12.
In the third set Converse fell behind 6-2 to the Mountain Lions, the Valkyries rallied and quickly countered with a run of their own to tie the set at eight. Late in the third period, the set was tied at 18 when Young Harris made a four point run against Converse. The Mountain Lions went on to win the third set 25-21 over the Valkyries.
In the fourth set, the Valkyries jumped out to a 4-1 run and eventually held a 9-5 advantage over Young Harris. The two teams went back-and-forth the majority of the set but the Valkyries eventually built a 22-16 advantage over Young Harris. Converse won the final set 25-20 and completed the Valkyries eighth straight win in Conference Carolinas play.
Converse finished with 70 points, 56 kills, 10 aces, 4 blocks, 52 assists and 72 digs.

Alayah Robertson and
Bree Lyons all finished with 12 kills.
Alysha Arroyo finished with a team high 41 assists,
Noemia Chiacchio finished with a team best 18 digs. Bryant finished second on the team with 14 digs and
Lilli Redifer finished third on the team with 11 digs.

The Converse volleyball team returns to the Weisiger Center on Tuesday evening to battle King University at 6:00 p.m.
