Gore’s Goals Galore Guides Valkyries to Victory

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With the second multi-goal game of her career, senior Ellie Gore did all the scoring in the Converse University women's soccer team's (3-3-1, 1-0-1 Conference Carolinas) Tuesday night 2-0 victory over the Mars Hill Lions (1-4-1, 0-1-1 SAC).

While the Valkyries held possession most of the first half and had a 12-1 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes, neither team was able to score in the first half.

In the 54th minute, Gore connected after another Valkyrie sent a shot off the crossbar, giving Converse an early-second-half lead. Just under 10 minutes later, Gore was fouled in the box and was awarded a penalty kick for her troubles. She converted the penalty kick into the team's lead-doubling second goal.

The Lions tried in vain to score a goal of their own and Converse secured a 2-0 victory over the regional foe.

The Valkyries are back on the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 28 as they host the Emmanuel University Lions at 1 P.M. at Weisiger Stadium.
