Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Valkyries Fall to Bobcats on Thursday Afternoon

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – After a 16-day break from games, the Converse University women's soccer team (3-4-1, 1-1-1 Conference Carolinas) dropped their first game back to the Lees-McRae Bobcats (4-2-1, 3-0-1 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 1-0.

Lasting damage from Hurricane Helene forced the game to Misenheimer on the campus of Pfeiffer University.

Converse held a 3-2 shot advantage over the first half hour of the game, but was unable to find the back of the net. Lees-McRae scored the one and only goal of the game in the 34th minute.

Over the final 45 minutes of the contest, Converse held a 5-4 shot advantage, holding Lees-McRae to just one shot on goal in the second half. But the Valkyries failed to create a successful scoring opportunity of their own and the Bobcats won 1-0.

The Valkyries are back on the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 12 as they head to Due West, South Carolina to take on the Erskine College Flying Fleet. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 P.M.
