SPARTANBURG, S.C. – In their second multi-goal game of the season, the Converse University women's soccer (2-2, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) defeated the Chowan University Hawks (1-3, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Weisiger Stadium.
The Valkyries held a 6-2 shot advantage over the first half of the game and dominated time of possession. Chowan took no shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
Sophomore forward Hannah Liebig opened the scoring with a 28th minute goal as she alluded two Chowan defenders in the box and pushed the ball past the Hawks' goalkeeper.
Despite a few more chances in the opening half, Converse took a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Freshman Lily Lyman netted her first collegiate goal in the 71st minute with an assist from sophomore Ava Forrester to kickoff the second-half scoring.
Just under four minutes later, junior Jasmine Hernandez added to her team scoring lead with her fourth goal of the season, this time with the assist coming from junior Giulia Rodrigues-Franceschini.

The Valkyries return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 18 as they host the Lander Bearcats in a regional matchup at Weisiger Stadium. The match is set to begin at 6 P.M.
