Women’s Soccer Opens Conference Play Against Chowan on Saturday

Converse Notes:

Converse enters Saturday's match after falling 3-1 on the road to Anderson.
After Converse fell behind 3-0 in the 67th minute, sophomore Hannah Liebig responded with a shot straight to the back of the net in the 72nd minute, her second goal of the season.
Junior Jasmine Hernandez leads the Valkyries in scoring with six points, all coming off of three goals.
Junior defender and 2023 all-conference selection Savannah Mellon leads all Valkyries' field players in minutes played at 224, just one minute behind the team's leader, freshman goalkeeper Gabriella Gudeman.

Chowan Notes:

Chowan enters the matchup after defeating Virginia State 6-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 11. That stopped a two-game skid to open the season.
The Hawks were picked eighth in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll.
Juniors Natasha Bailey and Abigail Simon lead the Hawks in scoring with three points each. They have both scored one goal and assisted on one goal.
Chowan has played four different goalies through three games and they have combined to allow just three goals. The Hawks main goalkeeper, senior Kirsten Petersen, has played 213 of the team's 270 minutes and has allowed all three of the team's goals.
