Esports Continues to Raise the Standard During Spring Semester

SPARTANBURG, S.C. Continuing the winning tradition of the Converse esports program, three of the program's teams continued to raise the bar during the spring semester. The League of Legends and Overwatch teams took first place in their respective Peach Belt Championships while Valorant Purple won the Wake Forest Valorant LAN. All three teams went undefeated.

League of Legends:
The League of Legends team won three matches in the Peach Belt Championship, all without dropping a game. They first defeated West Georgia and North Georgia by a 2-0 score. They then took a 3-0 victory over defending champions Florida Southern. With the title, Converse secured their second championship in three seasons.

The Valkyries will return to the College League of Legends playoffs utilizing the Peach Belt's automatic bid. Devin Yates scored two pentakills in three matches, nine individual games, during the tournament and was named the tournament MVP.

Overwatch:
The Converse Overwatch team won the Peach Belt Championship without dropping a game in their three matches. The top-seeded Valkyries first downed Columbus State and North Georgia 3-0. Converse dominated Kennesaw State 4-0 in the championship match.

Adam "Garchomp" El Gammal was named the tournament MVP. By winning the Peach Belt, the Valkyries have earned an invitation to the CECC Esports Championships in Arlington, Texas.

Valorant Purple:
Converse Valorant Purple took an undefeated victory at the Wake Forest Valorant Lan event. They are the two-time reigning champs.
