FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.  – Despite striking first in game one of their doubleheader with the Emmanuel Lions (18-19, 7-7 Conference Carolinas), the Converse University softball team (14-26, 3-9 Conference Carolinas) dropped both games of their Tuesday road doubleheader. Emmanuel won game one 11-1 in six innings and won game two 10-0 in five innings.

Game One: Emmanuel 11, Converse 1

Sophomore Ayellad Howard led off the game with a triple to right field and scored on the next at bat via an error.  Converse collected a second hit as junior Sydney Watson singled to left field but was left stranded as the next three batters got out in order.

Emmanuel picked up three runs in the first and two in the second before the third, fourth and fifth innings were all scoreless. Converse collected one hit in both the fifth and sixth innings.

The game ended via run rule as Emmanuel plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth, taking the game 11-1.

Game Two: Emmanuel 10, Converse 0

Emmanuel plated one run in the first and four in the second inning.

The Valkyries got their first base runner via an error in the third inning. Emmanuel plated two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Three runs in the bottom of the fourth pushed Emmanuel past the run-rule threshold, and Converse was unable to score three runs to force the next inning, and Emmanuel won 10-0.

On deck for the Valkyries:

The Valkyries look to regroup as they compete on back-to-back days this weekend. They first take on Barton at 2 P.M. on Friday, April 5 in Wilson, North Carolina. The following day, Saturday, April 6, the Valkyries head over to Murfreesboro, North Carolina to take on the Chowan Hawks starting at noon.
