GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their weekly Swimmer of the Week awards on Monday afternoon, Converse University athlete Emily "Milly" Byrne (Simpsonville, S.C.) was named Women's Swimmer of the Week for her accomplishments in the pool.
Byrne helped the Valkyries to a 168-77 win over King on Monday afternoon inside the Montgomery Student Center. Byrne finished the meet with a quartet of wins and a second place finish in the pool. Individually, Byrne won the 50-yard back event with a time of 28.59 seconds, and she won the 200-yard back event with a time of 2:14.16. The senior finished second in the 200-yard IM event with a time of 2:18.69.
As a member of the 200 free relay team and the 200 medley relay team, Byrne picked up an additional two wins on the afternoon. The 200 free relay team finished with a time of 1:45.24, and posted a personal split time of 25.88 seconds. The 200 Medley Relay team finished with a time of 1:57.90 seconds and posted a personal leadoff split with a time of 28.66 seconds.
Byrne and the rest of the women's swim team will be back in action on January 11
th against Barton, Emmanuel, and UNC Pembroke. The meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m., inside the Montgomery Student Center.
