Converse Cross Country Shows out at Live in Lou Classic

Louisville, Ky. – The Converse University Cross Country Team had a strong showing at the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday morning with the women's team finishing seventh overall with three new personal records being set while the men came in 11th with one new personal record.Â

Mark Rennix thought the races went well saying, "Both programs competed very well today. As a whole, this was the best meet we've had in school history which is exciting. We are moving in the right direction and ready to gear up for the post season."

In the Men's 8K Silver race, junior
Luis Rios Brena and graduate student Alex Sosa led the way, crossing the finish line for the Valkyries, collecting 8th and 61st place finishes with times of 25:57 and 27:07 respectively. Dre'Quan Guyton ran a new personal best, finishing as the team's third runner with a time of 27:11.

Lauren Beatty led the pack and finished 36th with a time of 18:43. Ruth Spjiker set a new personal record with a time of 18:58 .
