Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – In their final nonconference matchup of the season, the Converse University women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) defeated the Erskine Flying Fleet (0-3, 0-0 Conference Carolinas) on a 20th-minute goal off the foot of senior defender Brooklyn Galler. 

The Valkyries outshot the Flying Fleet 19-0. Nine of the team's 19 shots were on goal including the first four shots of the game. That fourth shot was Galler's beautiful ball to the back center of the net, putting the Valkyries up 1-0.

With 16:20 to play in the first half, the Valkyries had a chance to double the lead with a wide-open look following a saved shot that left the Fleet's keeper on the ground. The Valkyries' forward misplayed the ball and hit it a bit too hard, forcing it off target and keeping the score at 1-0.

The Valkyries continued to dominate possession, barely allowing the Flying Fleet to cross the ball into their offensive zone. Through the first 35 minutes of the second half, Converse held an 8-0 shot advantage in the half. 

With just 5:53 remaining in the second half, the game was suspended due to lightning in the vicinity of the field. 

Freshman goalkeeper Allie Nepomuceno recorded her first clean sheet as the Valkyries' keeper in the Wednesday-afternoon victory.

The Valkyries are back on the pitch Saturday at 5 p.m. as they host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in Conference Carolinas action.
