FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Converse University acrobatics and tumbling team picked up a 271.560-256.440 win over the Emmanuel Lions on Thursday evening. The win moves the Valkyries to 5-3 overall and 5-3 in Conference Carolinas action while the Lions fall to 2-7 overall and 1-7 in conference standings.
 
Event 1 – Compulsory
Converse posted event highs in the compulsory pyramid heat and the compulsory toss heat, posting scores of 9.9/10 and 9.85/10, respectively, in the heats to end the first event with an overall score of 38.600.

Event 2 – Acro
Continuing on their high, the Valkyries were able to score a 9.35 and 9.6 in the 5-element and 7-element heats, going into the third event with a 66.450-63.000 lead over the Lions.

Event 3 – Pyramid
Converse scored a season high 9.950 in the open pyramid heat which helped them capture another event win. Going into halftime, the Valkyries led the Lions 95.800-91.700.

Event 4 – Toss
A 9.4 in the 450 Salto toss heat highlighted the toss event for the Valkyries followed closely by a 9.350 in the open toss heat.

Event 5 – Tumbling
The aerial tumbling pass and the open tumbling pass continued to prove as strong suits for Converse as they posted scores of 9.575 and 9.400 in the heats. Going into the final event of the night, the Valkyries held onto a comfortable 175.150-164.600 lead.

Event 6 – Team Event
Converse boasted a 96.410 in their team event, the highest team event score of the season for the Valkyries. Emmanuel scored a 91.840 in their team event, finishing the night, and their season, with an overall score of 256.440.

Converse earned the No. 4 seed going into the Conference Carolinas championship series which will start on Tuesday, April 11 as the Valkyries host the No. 5 Lander Bearcats inside the Weisiger Center.
