SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After getting an early 1-0 lead over the Pioneers in the first inning of the first game, the Valkyries were unable to capitalize, dropping the first game of the series 5-1 to Tusculum. The Pioneers kept the momentum going into game two, grabbing a 10-0 victory over Converse. The Valkyries fall to 10-18 overall while the Pioneers move up to 17-16 overall.
Game 1 Notes:
Chesney Miles singled to center field to open up the game. She scored Converse's only run of the day as
Karleigh Crabill doubled to left field. Crabill led the Valkyries in game one with two hits and one RBI.
Makenna Hill also recorded two hits while
Rylee Summers pitched all seven innings with two strikeouts.
Game 2 Notes:
Tusculum was able to put up four runs in the top of the fourth inning along with three runs in the top of the fifth to secure their win. For Converse, Crabill and Summers each had one hit.
Emily Ingle pitched 3.0 innings with one strikeout and
Belle Roper finished the game by pitching the final two innings.
Next Up:
Converse will host Chowan in a Conference Carolinas series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
