BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Converse University softball team dropped two games on the road to the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Tuesday afternoon. The 5-0 and 13-1 losses drop the Valkyries to 10-16 overall and 1-3 in Conference Carolinas play while the Bobcats move to 13-9 overall and 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action.
Game 1 Notes:
Kayla Rocha recorded the solo hit during game one during the top of the fourth inning as she singled to right field.
Serrah Ballard pitched 2.1 innings with three strikeouts while
Rylee Summers closed out the game, pitching 3.1 innings with one strikeout.
Game 2 Notes:
In the top of the fifth inning and down 13-0, Converse's
Katelynn Tuxbury singled through the right side and advanced to second on a wild pitch. She scored the late run for the Valkyries as
Karleigh Crabill singled to left field. Crabill recorded one hit and one RBI,
Chesney Miles had two hits and Tuxbury had one run and one hit.
Emily Ingle pitched 2.1 innings with one strikeout, Ballard pitched 1.0 innings and Summers threw for 0.2 innings.
Next Up:
Converse will host non-conference opponent Tusculum University on Friday afternoon. Games are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
